KEERAI SAMBAR (GREENS CURRY)


INGREDIENT

Siru or arai keerai – 1 bunch
Thoor dal – ¼ cup
Onion – 1
Tomato – 1
Green chillies – 3
Garlic – 10 pods
Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
Sambar powder – 2 tsp
Tamarind pulp – ¼ cup
Oil – 2 tsp
Mustard seeds – ¼ tsp
Uradh dal – ½ tsp
Salt to taste

METHOD

Cook the dal is cooker and keep aside.
Clean the greens well thrice and cut finely.
Chop the onion and tomato finely and slit the green chillies.
In a pan add keerai, onion, tomato, green chillies, garlic, turmeric and sambar powder.
Add ½ cup water and cook till the green is well cooked.
Allow it to cool.
Give it a wisk in a mixer.
Again add in the pan and add tamarind pulp and salt.
Boil for 2 mins and add the toor dal
Switch of the stove after 2 mins.
Heat oil in a pan, and mustard seeds and uradh dal and add to the sambar

SERVING TIP

Mix this sambar with hot rice and ghee.
