KARIVEPPILLAI CHUTNEY (CURRY LEAF CHUTNEY)




INGREDIENTS

Curry leaves – 1 cup
Red chillies – 3
Pepper corns – ½ tsp
Uradh dal – 2 tsps
Channa dal – 1 tsp
Coconut – 2 tsps
Tamarind – little
Asafoetida – ¼ tsp
Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
Oil – 2 tsps
Salt to taste

METHOD

Clean the curry leaves and keep aside.
Heat the oil in a pan and add red chillies and pepper, when fried remove.
Add the dals and fry till it is brown.
Now add the curry leaves and sauté for a min.
Now grind all the ingredients along with coconut, salt, tamarind, asafoetida and water.
Heat a tsp of oil, add mustard seeds and add to the chutney.
