PORICHA KUZHAMBU (MOONG DAL CURRY)



INGREDIENTS

Brinjal – 100 gms
Moong dal – ¼ cup
Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
Sambar powder – 2 tsp
Water – 3 cups
Salt to taste
Oil – 2 tsps
Talippu vadam or mustard seeds, uradh dal, jeera each ½ tsp

METHOD

Cook moong dal in cooker
Cut brinjal into small pieces
Add water in pan along with sambar powder, turmeric powder and salt
Allow it to boil for 3 mins
Add brinjal and boil till the brinjal is cooked and then add cooked moong dal
Let it boil for 2 mins before you remove from fire.
Heat oil in pan and add the vadam. When it is fried add it to the kuzhambu.
It is ready to serve.

VARIATIONS

Vegetables like drumstick, beans, broad beans etc., can be used.

SERVING TIPS

This kuzhambu goes good with rice.
Any spicy sabzi goes well as side dish.
