TOMATO DOSA


INGREDIENTS

Boiled rice – 1 cup
Tomatoes – 3 or 4
Red chillies – 5
Mustard – ½ tsp
Jeera – ½ tsp
Onion - 1
Salt to taste
Asafoetida – ¼ tsp
Oil – as required
Channa dal – 1 tsp
Toor dal – 2 tsps


METHOD

Clean and soak the boiled rice for 2 to 3 hours.
Grind the rice and chillies to a fine paste
Now grind the tomatoes to a fine paste.
Mix the tomato paste with rice paste along with salt and Asafoetida.
Soak toor and channa dal in water for half an hour and mix it in the dosa dough
In a pan add a tsp of oil, add mustard and jeera.
When mustard has spluttered add the onion which is cut into small pieces.
Sauté the onion and add it to the dough.
The dough must not be too thick or too thin.
Heat the tawa and make dosa by spreading the dosa dough and pour a tsp of oil around the dosa.

SERVING TIP
The dosa doesn’t require a side dish. Curd or pickle is good
