MORE KUZHAMBU (BUTTER MILK CURRY)

INGREDIENTS

Ladies finger (Okra) – 100 gms
Butter milk – 2 cups
Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
Sambar powder – ½ tsp
Coconut scrapped – 1/4 cup
Coriander seeds – 1 tsp
Jeera(cumin) – 1 tsp
Toor dal – 1 tsp
Ginger – ½ inch piece
Green chillies – 4 to 5
Curry leaves – few
Asafoetida – ½ tsp
Salt to taste
Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
Oil – 1 tsp


METHOD

Soak coriander seeds, toor dal and jeera in a little water for about an hour
Cut ladies finger into an inch long pieces
Boil the ladies finger in a little water along with sambar powder and a little salt
In a mixer, grind the soaked ingredients along with coconut and green chillies to a fine paste
In a pan add the ground ingredients, turmeric powder, butter milk and salt and allow it to boil,
When it starts boiling add the cooked ladies finger and let it boil for just 30 secs
Now switch of the stove.
Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and curry leaves. Add it to the kuzhambu

VARATIONS

White pumpkin, brinjal can also be used
A spicy sabzi will be a good combination
If you want you can fry ladies finger in oil and add to the kuzhambu
