POONDU KATHIRIKAI (GARLIC BRINJAL)


INGREDIENTS

Garlic – 3
Brinjal – 3
Sesame oil – 3 tbs
Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
Chilly powder or sambar powder – ½ tsp
Rice flour – 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Milk – 2 tbs
Curry leaves – 10 leaves
Thalipu vadam if u have (only some people use this, so this is optional) – little
or mustard seeds


METHOD

Peel the cloves of 3 garlic, cut the brinjal into small pieces.
Heat oil in kadai sauté garlic in oil for 2 mins.
Now add brinjal and sauté till both brinjal and garlic is almost cooked.
Add turmeric powder, sambar powder, salt and water till the brinjal is drowned.
Let it cook till the brinjal is well done.
Mix rice flour in milk and add it in the pan. (This is to make the dish thick)
Heat oil and add mustard seeds and curry leaves and add to the dish.
If you have Thalipu vadam you can fry that in oil and add to the brinjal instead of mustard seeds.
This dish is very good for ladies after delivery.
