Keerai Rice


Items Required

Rice – 1 cup
Keerai (arai keerai, or siru keerai) cut and cleaned – 1 cup
Onion – 1
Red chillies – 3
Oil – 1 tbs
Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
Uradh dal – 1 tsp
Salt to taste

Masala Powders Needed

Pottu kadali – 1 tbs
Red chillies – 2
Garlic – 3 pods

Cooking METHOD

1.Cook rice as usual and allow it to cool
2.Cut the onion into fine pieces
3.Add the masala powder items in mixer to make a fine powder
(do not remove the skin of garlic)
4.Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and uradh dal
5.Add onions, red chillies and sauté for a min
6.Add the cut keerai, salt and ½ cup water.
7.Cook till the keerai is done and water is dried
8.Now add the cooked rice and 1 tsp ghee mix well
9.Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.

NOTE
Fried papads or karudam is a good side dish
