PULI KUZHAMBU (TAMARIND CURRY)



INGREDIENTS

Small onions – 50 gms
Garlic – 10 to 15 pods
ladies finger (Okra) – 100 gms
Tamarind – lemon size
Sambar powder – 4 tsps
Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
Fenugreek seeds – ½ tsp
Curry leaves – few
Oil – 2 tbs
Thallipu vadam or mustard seeds – ½ tsp
Salt to taste

METHOD

Peel onions and garlic and keep aside.
Heat oil in a pan and add fenugreek seeds, curry leaves, garlic and onions and sauté for a min.
Dissolve the tamarind in 2 cups of water and add it to the pan
Add sambar powder, turmeric powder and salt and allow it to boil.
Let the kuzhambu boil till it is thick
Heat 1 tbs oil, fry the vadam or the mustard and add it to the kuzhambu

VARIATIONS

Other vegetables that can be used in this kuzhambu are drum stick, brinjal, red pumpkin
